Advance notice of import shipments allows the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (U.S. FDA), with the support of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), to target inspections more effectively.
An article of food imported or offered for import, is subject to refusal of admission into the United States, if adequate Prior Notice has not been provided to the U.S. FDA.
PRIOR NOTICE is a notification to the FDA that a product is being imported or offered for import into the United States, in advance of its arrival at a U.S. port or airport.
